13 NOVEMBER 2019 (TORONTO, ON) - Anthem Entertainment, one of the world’s leading independent music and entertainment content and services companies, is pleased to announce that they have acquired a catalog of songs from songwriter and producer Doc McKinney.
The catalog features a number of songs from The Weeknd's debut triple-platinum compilation album Trilogy, including "Wicked Games" and "The Morning". In addition, the catalog includes songs from The Weeknd’s Grammy Award-winning, triple-platinum album Starboy, including the album’s title track, which is 7x platinum in the US and is multi-platinum in 11 countries worldwide. Starboy is The Weeknd’s second number one album and all 18 songs on Starboy charted on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the second album ever to do this. The catalog also includes McKinney’s co-writes on “Die For You”, “I Feel It Coming”, “Secrets”, “Sidewalks”, “Party Monster”, The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar’s multi-platinum collaboration “Pray for Me”, featured in the 2018 film Black Panther and songs recorded by Drake, Khalid and more.
“We are thrilled to announce the purchase of Doc McKinney’s catalog,” commented Anthem CEO, Helen Murphy. “Doc is a very talented, global creative who has amassed a wonderful catalog of contemporary hit songs including a substantial portion of the Weeknd’s body of work. We are looking forward to working with Doc to create opportunities for these works and we are happy he continues to base out of Canada and create opportunities for global recording artists.”
"My catalog is in great hands with Helen Murphy and her team, who are committed to ensuring that these songs will continue to have a global impact for years to come. I am proud that my songs are with a Canadian company and are part of a new era at Anthem," commented Doc McKinney.
