• US Congress passed The CARES Act on March 27, which provides significant financial assistance to struggling small businesses, self-employed workers and independent contractors. More information about how this new act affects our community and how to apply HERE
  • The Recording Academy launched their CARES Act Helpline*. Working with legal firm Greenberg Traurig , they offer private consultation for artists and other music industry professionals who have questions about the CARES Act. You can submit questions through their website or tune in to their weekly webinar series on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. More information HERE
• The Government of Canada is taking immediate, significant and decisive action to help Canadians facing hardship as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. They announced the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) to support Canadians affected by COVID-19 in a variety of ways, and who might not otherwise be eligible for Employment Insurance. • Further changes have been made to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). Minister Steven Guilbeault tweeted the following update: "Creators who are receiving royalty payments from prior copyrighted works are eligible for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit, provided that they meet other requirements." • The Government of Canada is providing $500 million in 2020-21 to establish a new COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund for Cultural, Heritage and Sport Organizations to help address the complex financial needs of affected organizations within these sectors. More information HERE
• ACM has launched The ACM Lifting Lives COVID-19 Response Fund which serves members of the country music community who face an unexpected financial emergency due to the Coronavirus. More information and application forms HERE
• ASCAP has launched a site to help its songwriter, composer and music publisher members stay connected and financially stable during this uncertain time. It includes information on how to receive ASCAP royalties through direct deposit, an online works registration application, access to free mental health services for ASCAP members and more. • Artists Relief Tree has set up a fund for artists of any kind who have had cancellations due to the COVID-19 outbreak. They are giving a $250 in relief on a first come first serve basis until the fund runs out. More information HERE
• Billboard has been providing an updated state-by-state resource guide for music professionals who need help during the COVID-19 crisis. More information HERE
• Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) has provided an extensive list of other resources and tips HERE
• Factor (Canada) has announced a plan to address cancellations of events and activities due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic for Canadian artists. View their update HERE
• Equal Sound has launched their Corona Relief Fund for musicians who have lost income due to a cancelled gig as a result of the Coronavirus / Covid-19 outbreak. More information and application HERE
• Live Nation has announced the launch of Crew Nation, a $10 million fund to benefit tour crew members during the pandemic. More information HERE
• Missed Tour is a site for artists and bands who have been displaced from touring due to the pandemic to list their merchandise to help offset lost revenue. More information and applications HERE
• MusiCares has expanded their services to include lost income due to the cancellation of scheduled gigs or performances due to COVID-19 precautionary measures. They have provided a list of resources available HERE
• Musician’s Foundation has launched a COVID-19 Emergency Aid Grant Program for United States-based musicians who've been active for the past five years. More information HERE
• Nashville Mayor John Cooper has also set up a COVID-19 Response Fund in conjunction with United Way. More information HERE
• Nashville’s Music Health Alliance has developed a COVID-19 & Tornado Relief Plan based on the immediate needs of the music community. More information HERE
• NPR has provided a great overview on how the CARES Act contains provisions that will benefit struggling music-makers. More information HERE
• The Opry has launched the Opry Trust Fund which provides financial assistance in time of extraordinary need, emergency or catastrophe to individuals who are or have been employed full time in a facet of the country music industry (i.e. performer, songwriter, publisher, radio, session musician, etc.). • The Recording Academy's Los Angeles, San Francisco, Pacific Northwest and Texas chapters has released a list of resources For Music Creators & Professionals Affected By COVID-19 affected in the West Region. More information HERE
• SOCAN (The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) announced that it is expanding its efforts to provide financial assistance to struggling members as a result of the COVID-19 crisis by allocating up to a total of $2-million for emergency royalty advances. • Spotify has launched their Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief program where they will be donating to organizations offering financial relief to those in the music community most in need around the world, and will match donations made through the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief page, up to a total Spotify contribution of $10 million.
  • Spotify’s music talent marketplace, SoundBetter is waiving its revenue share
  • Cloud-based audio recording platform Soundtrap will offer extended free trials for educators,
  • Anchor will waive fees on its Listener Support feature
• Spotify launched a new feature: the Artist Fundraising Pick which enables artists who are interested in raising money to support themselves, their bands, or their crews, to get the word out to their fans on their Spotify artist profiles. Their initial fundraising partners include: Cash App, GoFundMe, and PayPal.me. More information HERE
  • Cash App established a $1 million relief effort for artists during these challenging times. Spotify for Artists users that submit their “$cashtag” username as their Artist Fundraising Pick — and secure at least one contribution of any size through Spotify — will receive an extra $100 in their account from Cash App, until a collective total of $1 million has been contributed. This effort is available to artists in the US & UK, but Spotify listeners located all over the world can still make contributions via Cash App. 
• Sweet Relief created a donor-directed fund assistance program available to be used specifically for musicians and music industry workers affected by the Coronavirus. Funds raised will go towards medical expenses, lodging, clothing, food and other vital living expenses to those impacted due to sickness or loss of work. More information HERE
• Unison Benevolent Fund (Canada) announced a COVID-19 Relief Program that will see funds allocated towards housing costs, medical expenses and groceries for those who work in the Canadian Music community.

• National Arts Centre & Facebook Canada announced that they will provide $100,000 in artist fees to support online performances between now and March 31, 2020 to ease financial strain for those impacted by the closure of performance venues across Canada due to COVID-19. • Toronto Arts Council & Toronto Arts Foundation launched the TOArtist COVID Relief Fund. to assist Toronto artists in dealing with the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis. The Fund will allocate up to $1000 to self-employed, individual artists resident in Toronto whose creative work and income have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. More information HERE
