TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 25, 2012) - ole has concluded a futures Co-Pub and worldwide legacy catalogue administration deal with award-winning Canadian country artist/songwriter/actor, George Canyon. George Canyon is a multi-award winning Canadian country music artist and songwriter. Since the mid-'90s, Canyon has released 9 albums and in 2004, the year he was named the Canadian Country Music Awards' (CCMA) Rising Star, he was runner-up on CMT's Nashville Star 2 competition which was viewed throughout North America. He has received over 10 CCMA awards, including Single of the Year (2004, "My Name"), SOCAN Song of the Year (2004, "My Name"), Male Artist of the Year (2005, 2006) and, in 2011, was named CCMA Producer of the Year for his album Better Be Home Soon, an accolade he shared with acclaimed producer/performer/songwriter Richard Marx, who co-produced and collaborated with Canyon on four of the album tracks.
A prolific songwriter, Canyon's songs have been covered by numerous other artists including Nashville's Collin Raye, who recorded "Quitters." The song "Where Did I Go Right," co-written by Canyon, Tim McGraw and The Warren Brothers (Brad and Brett), who performed the song, was featured on the soundtrack of the 2006 film Flicka, which featured McGraw in a starring role.
"We are proud that George has chosen ole as his music publisher, and are looking forward to working closely with Team Canyon on his future music and film projects," says ole President Michael McCarty. "This signing further underscores our commitment to publishing the greatest stars in Canadian country music."
Adds George Canyon: "Working with one of the world's largest and best independent music publishers was an extremely important decision for my career. I am really looking forward to this creative and exciting new partnership with ole."
In addition to his musical accomplishments, Canyon has been making strong inroads into film/TV acting as he will be starring in several upcoming productions including A Mile in His Shoes, Dawn Rider and Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Miracle, among others. He is currently working on his next studio album, slated for a fall release.
